Paul ends his challenge to this church with words of Thanksgiving. He was thankful for the grace that was shown to him as he endeavored to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the process the church at Philippi ought to be commended by their faithful service to the Apostle. Listen and be challenged as many were in our fellowship on this day.
How do you recapture joy? Paul provides for us a two step process with several challenges weaved within. Hear what Paul says in Philippians 4:8-9 and see if you fall into the paradigm for all believers.
The challenge of Paul is staight forward. It is a primer on trust. When you trust God in all circumstances it will lead to prayer, which in turn leads to patience, peace and ultimalely praise. Listen to how the Apostle unpacks this wonderful text of Scripture.
Paul loves this church deeply. There is no doubt about this. No church is ever perfect and this church is no exception. Paul needs to address two ladies in this church who are prominent, but whose personalities are conflicting. Listen to what Paul tells these women as key figures in the church.
Sometimes when you have a zeal for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you run into obstacles. This is the story of Paul today. There are what Paul calls, “enemies of the cross” who seek to destroy Paul, the church, and the name of Jesus Christ. Paul gives one encouragment, “stand firm!”
